This is how my adventure began many years ago, as a result of an experience in Mozambique. It made me reflect on things that would change my life forever.
We have always heard that God is found in simplicity, but… who has not experienced that the simple becomes wonderful when we allow God to enter our lives, making all things new? Yet, because of personal and circumstantial difficulties, it has been a hard path, moving away from Him on many occasions. But it is also a path He has used to soften my heart, respecting my pace, sustaining me through His Presence in prayer and in life.
I realised that the things that truly bring happiness are not on my terms. As soon as I let go of the moorings of my own boat and place them in His hands, He leads me along paths I could never have imagined. Only when I look back do I see how He began to guide me providentially through people, through experiences, through His Light. In this way, transforming my life and giving me a new way of seeing those around me, myself, and life. Savouring each moment with gratitude for all He has done in me. In short, giving Himself. What better gift?
This summer, during my most recent experience of Spiritual Exercises in Espinosa, I have encountered that God who gives no one up for lost, who has rebuilt me and led me to live more deeply and fully. Reconciling me, making me freer and not a slave to those wounds that did not allow me to be myself in every area—at work as a dentist, in my family, in the community and religious life, with friends and colleagues. This has also transformed the atmosphere around me and, above all, certain people, enabling them to bring out the best in themselves and to love.
All of this is the work of a God who has been captivating my heart, and with whom I feel deeply in love. I have surrendered, trusting that He will give me everything I need. A God whom I once knew only by hearsay, but now I have seen with my own eyes and touched with my own hands. And to whom I only desire to give my life by making Him known to others.
