Maria Leão

I am Portuguese and have been a missionary for 27 years.

In 2018 I came to live in Dapaong, in northern Togo, where we are building a dream: a missionary family for the world.

When I was 23 years old, it was clear to me that I wanted to form a family that would be a leaven of communion. For that I was looking for a boyfriend and Jesus came to meet me, inviting me to form a big human family. Where everyone feels loved, valued and from there we all live as brothers and sisters.

Now in Togo, this mission is a new challenge, because here ethnic diversity, rather than richness, is often seen as a threat. Our missionary work is to offer each person an encounter with the Love of God. From this comes the fraternal experience between the Moba and Ewe ethnic groups, between whites and blacks, between men and women...
