Lome, Togo
I am from Togo and I work in "Brasserie de Lomé" as an electrician. My life began to change the day that, as a student of the technical high school, I met the missionaries. Participating in their workshops and spending time in the house of the community helped me to
My name is Didier Tchedre, through the community God opened the door to a new way of living: true fraternity.
What struck me most was my first visit to his house. I found a group of young people from the high school, but there was something different about them: they treated each other like brothers. Between laughter, gestures and words, I discovered a style of relationship I had never known before.
I come from a family marked by differences: my mother is from the south, my father from the north. In Togo, this diversity often leads to tension and mistrust. Learning to love in a fraternal way uncles, cousins and brothers of different ethnicities seemed an impossible challenge. But the experience with the missionaries began to transform my outlook: the other, although different, is "one of mine".
Being an orphan of both parents left me in the care of my aunt and uncle. It is not always easy to hear different and sometimes opposing opinions from the two branches of the family. However, this new way of loving gave me the strength to listen, respect and welcome each one. And little by little, my family began to notice a different love towards them and towards each other.
Today I can say that this fraternal experience has changed me forever. Wherever I go, I seek to create bonds that unite, to build bridges instead of walls, and to look at each person as part of my family.
Didier, Lomé, Togo.
